| HVP employs around 135 full-time staff in its Melbourne office and in district offices in Ballarat, Benalla, Churchill, Myrtleford and Shelley in Victoria, and Mt Gambier in South Australia. The company’s harvesting, haulage and silvicultural contractors directly employ another 450 people. |
HVP encourages a co-operative culture of safety among its employees and contractors. The company involves employees in its health and safety program; provides appropriate equip- ment, training and supervision; takes all practicable steps to eliminate or minimise work hazards; gives priority to health and safety factors in new processes and designs; and has well developed emergency procedures. The company provides on-going training and accreditation at every level, focused on continuous improvement in safety, environment and investment performance. Contractors own and operate the equipment used to harvest and haul pulpwood and sawlogs and operate advanced safety management systems. |
