A small class of 10 students (and 2 staff members) will visit the proposed site for a short period of time (Approx. 2 hours) to make observations, take measurements and collect environmental data (wind speed, temperature, soil moisture etc) in order to meet requirements for Year 12 Environmental Science
The group will arrive at approx. 10.00 am by mini-bus.
Students will work in small groups (two groups of 5). Only 5 students and 1 staff member will enter the pine plantation at any one time)
Each group will make observations and collect data pertaining to abiotic conditions (recording temperature, light levels etc, gather soil samples) in pine plantation.
Students will move no more than 20 metres into the pine plantation from side of road
Students will be under the constant supervision of school staff at all times
Each group will spend no longer than 30 minutes in the pine plantation
The first group will work in the pine plantation form approx. 10.30 am to 11.00 am
The second group will work in the pine plantation form approx. 12.15 to 12.45 pm
This site was chosen as students are required to compare the abiotic and biotic factors from a natural environment and human influenced environment. This site allows easy access to both
