Unattended monitoring is proposed to be carried out for a period of a least 1 week. Subject to the consent of landowners where the noise monitoring is occurring, this period may be extended if weather conditions are unsuitable (e.g. persistent heavy rain).
The noise monitoring equipment comprises standalone units which are self-powered. Specific aspects of the equipment are as follows:
• A sound level meter with built-in 3G modem to enable the units to be accessed and checked remotely;
• A solar panel power (if required) and back up battery system; and
• A weather station (at selected sites only) which continuously monitors wind speed and rainfall at each location for the duration of the noise survey.
