Aerial Herbicide Operation – Hotspur – SW Victoria

HVP Plantations wish to advise of an upcoming aerial  herbicide application operation in the Simkins plantation of the South West District of Victoria.  The property involved was impacted by fire in 2016 and is being re-established to plantation.  It is anticipated that the operation will take less than 1 day to complete and is planned to take place in March 2018. The program will be delayed if weather conditions are unsuitable.

HVP Plantations undertakes this type of operation to control weeds within the plantation area to ensure survival and growth of our trees. This operation occurs once or twice at the start of the 30 year rotation of our tree crop.

The active ingredient in the herbicide to be used is Clopyralid. All products used by HVP are registered in Victoria and have been approved by the Australian Pesticides and Veterinary Medicines Authority.

Our contractor is an experienced operator in this type of work. The helicopter to be used is equipped with state-of-the-art spraying and satellite guidance equipment specially designed for accurate placement of agricultural products. No flying operations when the helicopter is loaded with product will occur over private property. Adequate buffer strips and strict operational control, particularly with respect to weather conditions, will be observed throughout the operation.
