Gippsland Silvicultural Burns – Autumn 2019

May 11, 2019

HVP Plantations will be conducting silvicultural burns of post-harvest residue throughout West & South Gippsland in May and June 2019. To assist in achieving a safe and controlled burn, the timing of each operation is dependent on localised site and weather conditions.
Burns are planned near the following localities: Seaview, Yallourn North, Driffield, Maryvale, Traralgon South, Callignee South, Flynn, Rosedale, Longford, Stradbroke, Giffard, Carrajung, Blackwarry, Balook and Turtons Creek.
The harvest residue has been placed into heaps and/or windrows, and a mineral earth break constructed around the boundary to reduce the risk of escape.
HVP Plantations operate 7 Forest Industry Brigades throughout Victoria that are registered with the Country Fire Authority, and maintain a fleet of firefighting resources and appropriately trained and skilled staff. All burns are registered with VicFire, and relevant neighbours and authorities are notified prior to ignition of each area.
