Gippsland Spring 2016 Aerial Herbicide application

September 19, 2016

HVP Plantations wish to advise of upcoming herbicide operations in our plantations in Gippsland. The operation will see the control of weeds with herbicide application by helicopter. The properties involved have been either burnt in recent fires or harvested and have now being re-established to plantation. The operation usually takes less than 1 day to complete and is planned to take place between September to November, 2016. The program may be delayed if weather conditions are unsuitable.

HVP Plantations undertakes this type of operation to control noxious weeds and ensure survival and growth of our trees. This operation occurs once or twice at the start of the 30 year rotation of our tree crop.
Our contractor is an experienced operator in this type of work. The helicopter to be used is equipped with state-of-the-art spraying and satellite guidance equipment specially designed for accurate placement of agricultural products. All flying operations when the helicopter is loaded with product will be confined to land managed by HVP. No operation will be conducted within 30 metres of any private property or 200 metres of any dwelling. Strict operational control particularly with respect to weather conditions will be observed throughout the operation.

All products used by HVP are registered in Victoria and have been approved by the Australian Pesticides and Veterinary Medicines Authority.

Neighbours within a 1 kilometre radius of individual forest blocks have received specific letter notification to their address.
