Kinglake & surrounds: Return of harvesting operations

April 12, 2019

HVP Plantations wish to advise that harvesting and transport activities are returning to Kinglake West this April, continuing the life cycle of pine plantations in the area.

We re-planted large areas of plantation following Black Saturday, and these trees are now ready to be thinned. Thinning operations harvest a selection of trees, and encourage strong healthy growth of the remaining crop. Over the coming year operations will recommence around Kinglake West, Narbethong, Buxton and Crystal Creek.

During this first operation at Kinglake West, our drivers will transport the plantation logs from the worksite through internal plantation roads, and onto Whittlesea-Yea Rd from Hakea Rd. Their destination is HVP’s customers in Benalla, Wangaratta and Albury.

The worksite being thinned will be closed for the duration of the operation. For everyone’s safety, obey all safety signs, and be aware of increased heavy vehicle traffic, machinery and road closures within the plantation. Worksites are hazardous, and risks to people’s safety are not always obvious.

Community recreation

HVP recognise that many community members have an affinity with our forests, and enjoy walking, running and bike-riding activities throughout the year. Before entering any plantations, please undertake a visitor induction and apply for a Human Powered Pass.
