Kirby Flat Area Log Haulage Operation
November 8, 2017
HVP Plantations wish to advise local residences of the planned radiata pine plantation log haulage operation in the Kirby Flat Road area, planned to commence mid November 2017.
An area of pine plantation along No. 1 Road will be thinned. Harvesting machinery will be active in the area for about 6 weeks, and logs will continue to be transported out of the plantation for a further three to four weeks. The operation will see the harvest of plantation trees for subsequent transport and processing into sawlog products for housing and other construction, and chiplog for paper and medium density fibre board manufacturing. Logs will be transported to Albury, Wangaratta and Benalla for processing. The trucks will travel in and out of the plantation along Back Creek Road, Kirby Flat Road, Moyle Road and No. 1 Road.
The impacts on local residents by trucks will be minimised as far as is possible. However, increased activity can be expected and care should be exercised along Kirby Flat Road and Moyle Road and at road intersections. HVP Plantations, together with the local log transport companies, has implemented a voluntary speed reduction of 40km/hr along Kirby Flat Road and Moyle Road for our trucks. If you would like to communicate with the log truck drivers they will be available on UHF channel 40 on the sealed roads and UHF channel 25 on forest roads.
Felling and processing trees, and loading trucks are hazardous activities. Large machinery is involved and the ability of operators to hear and see beyond the immediate area of operations is often restricted. To keep everyone safe, on ground signage is in place to highlight the specific areas of the operation in the plantation. If you see these signs DO NOT continue past the signs, you must seek an alternate route.
All of our operations are subject to fire and weather constraints and customer demand and may be altered without notice.
In an effort to help us to improve our communication and operations, HVP encourage you to contact us through our website www.hvp.com.au with any feedback.
For further specific information regarding these operations please contact HVP Plantations on 03 5731 2000.
