Mountain Mist (Quinns Gap) – Bright plantation harvest

November 8, 2017

March 2018 update: We will be returning to the Mountain Mist (Quinns Gap) area soon

HVP Plantations plans to recommence cable timber harvesting in the Mountain Mist area from the 22nd of March until late April. As per map below, the site includes the eastern slopes near the old golf course, known as the Quinns Gap plantation.

Logs harvested from the site will be transported along Douglas Rd, Tom Briggs Rd, through the pine plantation and exit on to the Back Porepunkah Rd adjacent to Lowen Drive (as represented by the red line on the map). They will be delivered to local mills in Myrtleford, Wangaratta and Albury.

Please seek alternative spaces for recreation and respect all signage – which is in place for the safety of the public and our contractors. Be aware of an increase in heavy vehicle movement into and out of the plantation, increased machinery and plantation road closures in this area. Road closures will include Oregon Rd, Quinns Rd, Tom Briggs Road and Templar Road.

The area will be replanted into pines in the following winter.
