Plantation Harvest and Haulage at Deans Springs – Porepunkah
April 24, 2017
We are working in the Porepunkah area
(Originally posted 7 March 2017, updated 24 April 2017)
Commencing after ANZAC Day, part of the Porepunkah Plantation will be harvested in April/May 2017 (see map below) and will be re-established to pine plantation this winter. As previously advised, road works were undertaken in March 2017 in preparation for this harvesting and haulage operation.
Most of the plantation timber will be trucked out via Ritchie Road onto the Buckland Valley Road, to be delivered to local mills for processing. Activity will also occur along the Great Alpine Road. Traffic management will be in place to allow for the safe passage of vehicles and safe management of power lines.
Please be aware there will be an increase in heavy vehicle machinery and plantation road closures. Please seek alternative spaces for recreation. A second area is planned for harvest in Spring 2017.
Thank you to residents who dropped by our information sessions at the Punkah Pantry held Wednesday 15 March 2017.
