Porepunkah-Bright Harvest Update 2022

June 8, 2022

HVP Plantations wish to advise of upcoming harvesting and haulage operations in the Porepunkah-Bright Plantation, which will continue the lifecycle of pine plantations in this area.

  • Plantation areas shaded in green on the map below were planted in 2011 are due for thinning, which harvests a selection of plantation trees, and encourages strong healthy growth of the remaining crop.
  • This thinning operation will commence mid-June 2022 and may continue into July 2022.
  • The harvest worksite and a number of roads feeding into the worksite will be closed for the duration of the operation. For everyone’s safety, be aware of increased heavy vehicle traffic, machinery and road closures within the plantation.
  • Please visit our operations page for further information about the plantation lifecycle and the range of HVP operations.

Transport will commence a few days after harvesting commences. Our drivers will transport the plantation logs from the Porepunkah worksites to HVP’s customers in Myrtleford, Wangaratta and Benalla.

Timber will be hauled out of Toms Briggs Rd, Nursery Rd, Red Pines Rd, Roberts Creek Rd, and on to Back Porepunkah Rd.

HVP takes safety seriously, please note the following:

  • The worksite will be closed (to vehicles, pedestrians, and riders) for the duration of the operations. This includes when the crew is not present.
  • Worksites are hazardous, and risks to people’s safety are not always obvious.
  • Be aware of increased heavy vehicle traffic and machinery.

Thank you for following the directions of all signage and forest operators.

Community recreation

HVP recognise that many community members have an affinity with our forests, and enjoy walking, running and bike-riding activities throughout the year. Before entering any plantations, please undertake a visitor induction and apply for a Human Powered Pass.
