2026 Mystic Harvesting and Haulage Operations, Oct – Dec

HVP advises that harvesting operations will be undertaken in parts of Mystic Park at Bright this spring. We had rescheduled this harvest to 2027 when harvesting crews were redirected to undertake bushfire salvage operations at Shelley Estate earlier this year. However, ongoing plantation monitoring has identified a significant increase in windthrow across the area. With more trees being blown over and damaged, waiting until 2027 for this harvest is no longer a safe or viable option.
As a result, harvesting operations have been brought back into this calendar year, and will be undertaken between October and December 2026. This will enable us to safely recover damaged trees before timber deteriorates and help minimise further losses from future wind events.
Tree Harvesting
Harvesting is expected to commence Monday 5 October 2026 and continue through to early December 2026, subject to weather, ground conditions and harvesting progress.
For safety reasons, the harvest area will be closed to all public access for the duration of the works. Exclusion areas will be clearly identified with signage and on the attached map.
Log Transport
Logs will be transported from the site to HVP customers in Myrtleford, Wangaratta, Benalla and regional NSW.
Increased heavy vehicle movements can be expected in the area while harvesting and haulage operations are underway. For your safety, we strongly advise motorists not to overtake trucks in the local neighbourhood.
Safety
Safety is HVP’s highest priority. Please note:
- Forest work areas are closed to all public access during operations, including when crews are not present.
- Worksites are hazardous, with risks that may not be immediately obvious, including falling trees, dislodged rocks and machinery with limited visibility.
- Expect increased heavy vehicle and machinery activity in the area.
- Please follow all on-site signage and directions from forest operators.
HVP appreciates that the Mystic area is valued by the local community and recognises that these works may cause some inconvenience to residents, businesses and recreational users.
