17 Feb 2026: Maryvale Pines site remains closed
HVP Plantations wishes to remind the community that forest harvest and haulage operations in the Maryvale Pines area near Morwell remain ongoing.
For safety reasons, the entire plantation area remains closed to the public until further notice. This closure also applies to HVP Human Power Pass holders.
HVP has active surveillance in place at this site and access points have been gated.
Safety is HVP’s highest priority. Please note:
- Forest work areas are closed to all public access during operations, including times when crews are not present.
- Worksites are hazardous, with risks that may not be immediately obvious (e.g. falling trees, dislodged rocks, machinery with limited visibility).
- Expect increased heavy vehicle and machinery activity in the area.
- All on-site signage must be adhered to.
We appreciate your cooperation and understanding while this important work takes place.
12 November update
There’s been a lot of interest shown in the Maryvale Pines site. Following the earlier operations update posted in October, we’ve prepared this Q&A to download providing additional background and clarity on the site, its land uses, and recent communications about access.
14 October 2025 operations post
HVP Plantations wishes to advise of forest harvest and haulage operations in the Maryvale Pines area near Morwell.
HVP closely monitors the health of our forests to protect these important assets from damaging agents such as fire, insect attack and disease. Unfortunately, in recent years the pine plantations at Maryvale have been negatively impacted by Diplodia and the Sirex woodwasp.
This serious forest health issue requires us to urgently bring forward harvesting operations for these stands.
For safety reasons, the entire plantation area, including the Maryvale Pines Trails, will be closed to the public, from 1 November 2025.
Tree Harvesting
Harvesting will comprise a mixture of stand thinning and clearfall and will occur within the exclusion areas clearly shown on the map below:
The site will be closed from 1 November until approximately the end of April 2026.
Log Transport
Log haulage will begin during November harvesting and continue into 2026.
Our professional drivers are committed to safely sharing the road with the community. Trucks are GPS-monitored for speed and driving standards. Please be aware that trucks will travel at safe, steady speeds.
Safety
Safety is HVP’s highest priority. Please note:
- Forest work areas are closed to all public access during operations, including times when crews are not present.
- Worksites are hazardous, with risks that may not be immediately obvious (e.g. falling trees, dislodged rocks, machinery with limited visibility).
- Expect increased heavy vehicle and machinery activity in the area.
- Please follow all on-site signage.
We appreciate your cooperation and understanding while this important work takes place.
